Arizona Anti-solicitation Ordinance Stopped in its Tracks!
June 2, 2008 – Today a district court judge in Arizona granted an order to stop the enforcement of a discriminatory anti-solicitation ordinance in the town of Cave Creek, Arizona because it violated the constitutional right of free speech.
NYCLU: Suffolk County Employment Law is Discriminatory
May 14, 2008 – A law passed Tuesday by the Suffolk County Legislature is discriminatory, unfair and unpatriotic, according to Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union.
NYCLU Hails Defeat of Suffolk County Anti-Immigrant Proposal
March 18, 2008 – NYCLU today hailed the demise of an anti-immigrant proposal by Suffolk County lawmakers that would have required all 15,000 licensed contractors in the county to prove their employees' working status.
ACLU, NYCLU Ask Court To Affirm Decision Striking Down 'National Security Letter' Provision
March 14, 2008 – In a brief filed under seal on Monday and unsealed yesterday, the American Civil Liberties Union and the New York Civil Liberties Union urged a federal appellate court to uphold a lower court decision striking down the National Security Letter (NSL) provision of the Patriot Act.
Business Leaders, Unions and Advocates to Rally Against Suffolk Anti-Immigrant Proposal
March 13, 2008 – Today, business leaders, union members and community and immigrants' rights advocates will hold a rally and press conference rejecting a proposal by Suffolk County lawmakers that would require all 15,000 licensed contractors in the county to prove their employees’ working status.

January 31, 2008 – A proposal by Suffolk County lawmakers that would require that all 15,000 licensed contractors in the county prove their employees' working status is political posturing that promotes discrimination, according to the leadership of the New York Civil Liberties Union.

November 8, 2007 – New York State is failing in its constitutional duty to provide effective counsel to New Yorkers accused of crimes who cannot afford to pay private lawyers, according to a landmark lawsuit filed today by the New York Civil Liberties Union and the law firm of Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP.

Adult course on creation set for Northport school
October 8, 2007 – The latest session of an adult continuing education course called What is Creation Science? that is scheduled to begin in Northport this month may be violating the separation of church and state, S. Muraskin Executive Director of the Suffolk chapter of NYCLU said.
Federal Court Strikes Down National Security Letter Provision of Patriot Act
September 6, 2007 – A federal court today struck down the amended Patriot Act's National Security Letter (NSL) provision. The law has permitted the FBI to issue NSLs demanding private information about people within the United States without court approval, and to gag those who receive NSLs from discussing them. The court found that the gag power was unconstitutional and that because the statute prevented courts from engaging in meaningful judicial review of gags, it violated the First Amendment and the principle of separation of powers.
